08/22/12 A GOOD THING SOMETIMES

08/22/12 A GOOD THING SOMETIMES

A bad dream can be a disturbing thing, because it can seem so real. It can also make us aware of the possibility of troubling events. Dreaming about the loss of a loved one should at least remind us that earthly life is fragile and momentary. Relationships that are not rooted in the reality of Christ are short lived. You know, maybe a "bad dream" is a good thing, sometimes.

Hardened Hearts Move Toward Darkness
However, I have noticed that the people who need to be moved by dark realities usually don't get the message of the moment. After all, they miss the message that God wants them to hear when they are wide awake and it is given to them by a messenger of God. You have to be tuned in and focused on God for the events of life to make sense
.

Take Hold
I was also thinking, when tragedy strikes (and it will), it is essential to have a firm grasp on something (Someone) who will see your through. Seldom do people take "hold of Jesus" when the storms of life hit them full force. They are usually washed away in the turbulence of the moment; never to find firm spiritual footing.

Listen and Trust
Listen for the voice of God in the, "Quiet, before the storm" because it is almost impossible to hear Him in the midst of the storm. If you do not learn to trust Him and obey Him when things are easy, you are not likely to trust Him and obey Him when your life is in total chaos and upheaval.

Don't Delay
Don't say, "I will straighten things out tomorrow," for tomorrow may not get here, and if it does, you may be so far from Him, you do not hear His voice calling you or you may have resisted, grieved, quenched or insulted His Holy Spirit to the point that He no longer strives with you.

Confidence Misplaced

The strange thing is, the further someone moves away from the Spirit of Holiness, the more confident they are in their supposed salvation. Either they presume on the grace of God or they underestimate the sinfulness of sin.

Don't wait for, "a more convenient time," because, "today is the day of deliverance."
