Sin's "exceeding sinfulness" (Ro. 7:13) makes a person blind to spiritual truth, and then deceives him. No wonder the unsaved do not "see" their need for the Savior. However, as we grope around the traps and pitfalls of life, trekking deeper into the abyss of sin's hopeless snares, God extends to us His light, truth, hope, mercy, grace, deliverance and calls us to His way of escape. It is then that we must accept and follow Divine rescue, or be lost forever.
TWO APPROACHES TO SIN...
Notice, in the Garden, Adam was not deceived, but Eve, being deceived was in the transgression.
1 Timothy 2:14
(14) And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
This indicates two ways that lead to sin:
1- Deceived into disobedience;
2- Deliberate disobedience. Both ways are damnable and both ways are avoidable and escapable.
The Scriptures make it clear that a Christian can choose to deliberately sin or not sin. But can we avoid being deceived? Again, the Scriptures show us that Christ can keep us from being deceived.
2 Corinthians 11:3
(3) But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
2 Corinthians 10:4-5
(4) (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
(5) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
Galatians 6:7-9
(7) Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
(8) For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
(9) And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
1 Corinthians 10:12-13
(12) Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
(13) There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
