03/25/12 I REMEMBER...
God Provided
For a period of time, during my Bible college days (late 60's), I worked for the newspaper office, a funeral home and did yard work during my down time. One evening I had to choose between spending my last 27 cents on a gallon of gas or milk and doughnuts. I had not had anything to eat that day, but I needed the money to get to school the next day. I bought the gas and God miraculously provided me with a meal that night. PTL.
Poor But Rich
Though it was not "Easy Street" for everybody all the time, it was a time when a person could move ahead, in the long haul. Even in our poorest we were still able to "make it."
Remember, the Bible says there is coming a time when the government will only let a person buy and sell if they deny Christ. Better make your escape plans now (be rapture ready), while you can, because when that final flight takes off, you don't want to be left behind. Contrary to what the "Left Behind series says, if you reject Christ now, you will not get saved during the tribulation.
2 Thessalonians 1:6-10
(6) Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;
(7) And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
(8) In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
(9) Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
(10) When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.
DLG notes...
(6) "Tribulation" in vs. 6 is in not speaking of "The Tribulation" specifically, but "trouble, affliction, persecution" in general.
(7) However, in vs. 7 Jesus is revealed from heaven, which takes place after the Rapture (when God removes believers from the earth), during the Tribulation (when God pours His wrath on the earth) and then He returns to the earth (vs. 8).
(8) This verse tells us that those who rejected the opportunity to receive Christ before the Rapture will not have the opportunity during the Tribulation, because they did not, "obey the gospel..."
(9) The unhappy destiny for those who reject Christ will be, punishment with everlasting destruction (ruin, not annihilation) from the presence of the Lord.
(10) Christ will return to earth with His saints from heaven to set up His Kingdom with those who found salvation during the Tribulation.
Acts 1:9-11
(9) And when he (Jesus) had spoken these things, while they beheld, he (Jesus) was taken up; and a cloud received him (Jesus) out of their sight.
(10) And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he (Jesus) went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
(11) Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
