11/22/12 GIVE THANKS...

HAPPY THANKSGIVING Y'ALL. We show our thanks to God by offering Him our praise. I am posting three N.T. passages which mention GIVING THANKS to God, including the immediate context of each. Giving thanks is both a SHOW and TELL experience. Muse on the ways you can "show and tell" your thanks to God, based on these passages.

Three Passages
Here are three verses from the New Testament that address Givng Thanks to God. Giving thanks to God includes both TELLING and SHOWING. I included the context of each verse. Take a few moments to see how you can Show and Tell your thanks to God. The verses are designated in the reference by parentheses.

Ephesians 5:18-21
(vs. 20)
(18) And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
(19) Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
(20) Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
(21) Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

Colossians 1:9-14 (vs. 12)
(9) For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
(10) That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
(11) Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
(12) Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
(13) Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

1 Thessalonians 5:14-22 (vs. 18)
(14) Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
(15) See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
(16) Rejoice evermore.
(17) Pray without ceasing.
(18) In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
(19) Quench not the Spirit.
(20) Despise not prophesyings.
(21) Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
(22) Abstain from all appearance of evil.
